More about MYSfits
- String musicians in Concert Orchestra or Symphony Orchestra are welcome to audition for available spots in MYSfits.
- Musicians interested in joining MYSfits should speak with the MYSfits group manager.
- New members are selected based on their musicianship and fit within the ensemble.
- The audition consists of a practice session with the MYSfits. You will be sight reading.
- MYSfits rehearse and perform all year (throughout the summer as well.)
- During the school year, MYSfits generally rehearse at Beaumont Middle School, Saturday's from 8:00-9:45am according to the MYS calendar.
- Summer rehearsals move to Marylhurst University and are generally prior to the MYS Summer Orchestra rehearsal from 5:30-6:45pm.
- Musicians (and their parents) must have the willingness and ability to perform additional concerts throughout the year. Some will coincide with MYS concerts. Others will be outreach performances.
- Commitment - we ask that members commit to MYSfits for a minimum of one calendar year. MYSfits maintains a significant repertoire, which takes time for musicians to learn.
- Conducting - part of every practice includes the opportunity for a MYSfit member to conduct the group. This builds self and group confidence.
- Attendance & Dress requirements are the same as MYS Orchestras.
Some venues where MYSfits has played:
- Summer Festival in the Parks
- Sand in the City @ Pioneer Courthouse Square
- Chocolate Festival @ the World Forestry Center
- Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall

We are always looking for new venues. Please forward your suggestions to the office.
