Inclement Weather: When inclement weather occurs, your
safety is our number 1 priority. If road conditions make it unsafe
for you to attend MYS , please fill out an on-line absence form with
“weather” as the reason you could not attend. If MYS is cancelled
for the day, we will put that up on the website under
announcements.
Viennese Ball: Tickets on sale at the Beaumont lobby on
Saturdays, 10:00-3:00.
Viennese Ball Dance Lessons: Free dance lessons for the
Viennese Ball will take place on Saturdays at Beaumont on the second
floor on March 1, 8 15, 22, 29 and April 5 at 10:15 AM & 1:45
PM.
T-Shirts and Picture IDs: This will take place this
Saturday, February 9, from 10-3.
Concert DVDs and CDs: DVDs and CDs from the November and
December concerts are still available at the Beaumont front desk. We
have very few left.

Blast! Blare! Bid Sheet!
Yes, the Beaumont Silent Auction is on its way, Saturday,
March 15, 2008, 10am – 3pm at Beaumont Middle School.Join
us for fundraising amongst the fanfare of 500 students rehearsing
magnificent music! Procurement Committee personnel will be on hand at
rehearsals starting this Saturday to gratefully accept your donated
items. Look for the Silent Auction sign and the friendly face in the
Beaumont foyer for more information and In Kind Donor forms.

invite lots of people. The date is Saturday, February 16.

look forward to seeing you on Saturday. We have 50 new members that
have joined us as a result of the auditions this week. Please
welcome them and help them to adjust to Saturdays at MYS.

the holidays. We also have car wash coupons and cookbooks. Be
there! Saturday, December 8th at Beaumont. You can also call the

Concert Tickets: You can still get tickets for the
Skyview concert this Saturday, December 8th. Prices are $5.00 for
Adults and $3.00 for seniors and students. Tickets can also be
purchased at the door at the concert on Sunday, December 9th.
Tuition: December tuition is now due.
Winter Auditions: Auditions for new students will be
held on Wednesday, January 2 at Marylhurst University. Call the MYS
office, 503-239-4566 for an appointment.
Book Sale: Thank you to those people who have brought in
books! Keep them coming!
Rehearsals: This Saturday, December 8th is the last
rehearsal before the Holiday break. There will be no rehearsals on
Dec. 15, 22 and 29. Next rehearsal is on Saturday, January 5th ,
2008.
MYS Office Hours: The MYS office will be closed from
December 24 through January 1st, 2008. Carol will check messages on
a regular basis. Every effort will be made to get back to you as
soon as possible. If you have a question or need assistance with

Wreaths and Poinsettias Fundraiser: All wreaths and Poinsettias must be picked up on Saturday, Dec. 1st. If you are absent that day, please make arrangements for pick up. These will not be carted back to the MYS office.

lovers, here is an opportunity to enjoy a night out and let the MYS jazz
ensembles along with Cleveland High school jazz entertain you. This will take
place on Friday, November 16, 7:00 pm. at Cleveland High School. Admission is
$5.00 for all attendees.

China Tour Book: Orders for the China Tour Book are due this Saturday. Cost is $10.00 for musicians and $40.00 for all others. Two anonymous donations made it possible for the China tour musicians to buy this book at $10.00. It is a $40.00 value and MYS does not make any money on this publication. Once they’re gone, they’re gone as we only ordered 100. This 40 page book is beautiful and is in color. Thank you Lloyd Johnson for putting this together.

Concert Band: Outreach concert Sunday, Nov. 4th. Call time, 9:30 am at Clark County Fairgrounds. All MYS families are invited to attend this Veteran’s week event. If you join the convoy to Wilsonville there is a free Salmon Bake.

Dr. John doing well: Most of you are aware that Dr. John Richards became ill at the Canby concert rehearsal on Sunday. We are happy to report that Dr. Richards is recovering rapidly and will be leaving the hospital on Wednesday. “I’m as well as apple pie” is what he told me (Carol Neff). I visited him on Monday and he is as feisty as ever. I want to thank the Symphonic Band musicians who performed a wonderful concert in an uncomfortable situation. Dr. Richards enjoyed your cards. You deserved the standing ovation you received. I know how scared and concerned you were. Thanks also to Julia Watts, Lori Siegal and Beth Munger who handled the situation quickly and professionally. Thanks also to Gary Nelson and Charles Bolton who handled the conducting chores.

Pizzicato Pizza Incident: It’s come to our attention that one of our MYS students stole money from the tip jar at Pizzicato Pizza. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and if the identity of the student were known, he or she would be expelled. Please bear in mind that MYS students are expected to maintain an exemplary level of conduct that respects the rights and property of others. Thank you to the female musician who suggested that he return the money. Unfortunately, he didn’t.
MYS students are not allowed to leave the Beaumont campus for lunch (which is why we have pizza available), unless we get written permission from parents. We trust that this policy will be followed.
Free Concert Tickets: Available to the Chamber Music Northwest concert on Friday, October 19, featuring the Kavafian Shifrin Schub Trio. This offer is valid for members of MYS and their immediate family. The concert is at 8pm at Reed College: Kaul Auditorium. The box office opens at 7pm and you must tell the box office attendant that you are a member of MYS. If you have questions, please call the CMNW box office at 503-294-6400.
Oregon Symphony Tickets: There are (14) $10.00 front row tickets available to the November 3rd concert featuring Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, violin with James DePreist, conducting.

Oregon Symphony: If you missed the special ticket offer last Saturday when Carlos Kalmar visited, call the Oregon Symphony box office and mention MYS. These tickets are for the Oregon Symphony’s Spanish Splendor concert on October 13th, 14th and 15th. The special ticket price is $10.00 per ticket.
SO & Vivaldi Strings: Symphony Orchestra and Vivaldi Strings next Sectionals are on Saturday, October 20. Play-offs are October 27 and November 3.
